'Twas The Night Before Christmas – Victorian Christmas Experience

Step back in time to explore an authentic 1850s Victorian Christmas Eve inside Burton Constable Hall. Our principal ground-floor rooms will be transformed for the season with period decorations, flickering candlelit settings, and authentic preparations for a traditional household feast.
Accompanied by a self-guided story booklet written from the perspective of Head Housekeeper Mrs. Styche, visitors gain a unique historical insight into the traditions of the estate’s gentry and servants.
- Festive Children’s Trail: Younger explorers can follow a brand-new festive dog trail through the grand state rooms.

Cobwebs & Cream Teas at Christmas – Exclusive Behind-the-Scenes Tours

For visitors seeking unique festive things to do in East Yorkshire, join our expert guides for an exclusive behind-the-scenes Christmas tour.
Discover hidden areas of Burton Constable Hall - including historic cellars, attics, and closed spaces not usually open to the public. Your ticket includes access to the parkland from 10:00 am, a self-guided walk through our Victorian Christmas displays, a guided tour starting at 1:00 pm, and a delicious festive cream tea or afternoon tea served in the Stables Kitchen.

Returning after two consecutive sold-out years, A Christmas Quartet offers an intimate evening of live festive music in the grand surroundings of our Great Hall.
Begin your evening with an after-hours tour through the festively dressed state rooms before taking your seat for a live performance by The Ebor Quartet. Enjoy a classical programme of Christmas carols, seasonal favourites, and iconic movie themes from one of Yorkshire’s premier string quartets. A licensed bar opens from 7:00 pm.
