'Twas The Night Before Christmas

Family Event
Sat 22nd November 2025 to Sun 21st December 2025

Standard Admission

Step into Burton Constable Hall and travel back to a Victorian Christmas Eve in the 1850s.

The family has spent the evening with friends, celebrating, and now the hall is filled with festive preparations. Candlelight flickers across the rooms, ribbons are untangled, presents are being wrapped, and traces of the evening’s celebrations linger, all unfolding as the hall is prepared for the family’s midnight feast and the joys of Christmas Day.

Explore the beautifully decorated ground floor with your self-guided story booklet. Featuring the narrative of the ever-watchful Head Housekeeper, Mrs Styche, this short guide offers a unique immersion into the household’s Victorian Christmas Eve traditions.

Children can also follow the Robin Trail through the Hall, adding a little extra discovery to their visit.

In the Chapel, visitors can leave a message on the Hall’s Memory Tree, taking a quiet moment to reflect during their visit.
