A self-taught painter working largely in soft pastels, Peter likes to explore how a landscape changes in mood and aspect under different weather conditions and as the seasons succeed one another.

The East Riding and Yorkshire Wolds provide Peter’s main inspiration just now; the Lincolnshire Wolds afford similar opportunities. Another favourite area for painting which features in the exhibition lies just south of Sheffield in NE Derbyshire between Ford and Marsh Lane.

Peter moved to the East Riding of Yorkshire in 2019 after an academic career in Manchester, Liverpool and Sheffield. He has a lifelong love of architecture, art and painting. He currently paints at Calf House Studios just outside Bishop Burton. A self-taught painter working largely in soft pastels, Peter likes to explore how a landscape changes in mood and aspect under different weather conditions and as the seasons succeed one another. This is his primary focus for his Burton Constable exhibition, ‘Of Landscapes and Living Things’.
