Situated in the Great Hall at burton Constable, from 7:30pm, The Friends of Burton Constable will be delivering talks, carols and tours surrounded by Christmas splendour.  There will be a wine bar and nibbles. 

Talk by Philippa Wood, Curator entitled 'The Wonderful World of William Constable'.  He was an avid 18th Century collector, gathering a range of objects from works of art to numismatics, and scientific instruments to natural history specimens.  Collection was his passion and this promises to be an interesting talk.

Afternoon tea was created by the Duchess of Bedford in the late 18th century. She invited friends to join her for an afternoon meal of small cakes, bread and butter sandwiches, sweets and, of course, tea. The practice was so popular that it was quickly adopted by other social hostesses
