Step into the fascinating world of honey bees and discover how these remarkable insects live, work and produce honey at Burton Constable Hall.

Join Burton Constable Hall, in association with the Beverley Beekeepers Association, for a unique hands-on beekeeping experience. Guided by our experienced volunteer beekeepers, you'll begin with a short safety briefing before suiting up and heading to one of our live hives, where you'll get up close to the bees in their natural working environment.

As you explore the hive, you'll learn how honey bees work together as a colony and the different roles within the hive. Our volunteer beekeepers will explain how bees produce honey, the seasonal work involved in looking after them, and why they are an important part of our natural environment.

As part of the experience, you'll have the chance to sample a selection of different honeys and discover how their flavours can vary. The session concludes with an informal Q&A, giving you the opportunity to ask our volunteer beekeepers any questions, before relaxing over a traditional cream tea in the Stables Kitchen.

Tickets: £40 per person

Admission: Your ticket includes admission to Burton Constable Parkland. If you would like to visit Burton Constable Hall, you can upgrade your ticket on the day for just £5. The Hall is open from 11:00am, with last admission at 3:00pm, so we recommend visiting the Hall before your beekeeping experience begins.

• Each session is limited to 8 participants.
• Suitable for ages 16+
• The experience begins with mandatory safety briefing.
• Protective beekeeping suit will be provided but you must wear long trousers and long-legged wellington boots.
• For safety reasons, attendees must not have a known allergy to bee stings.
• This experience is subject to weather conditions and may be postponed in the event of unsuitable weather.
