Get into the spirit of Halloween with The Wreckers, a chilling ghost story by BAFTA-nominated writer Tom Needham, performed at Burton Constable Hall on the eve of Halloween.
Two friends escape to an idyllic cottage on a remote peninsula, hoping for a much-needed break. But when the tide cuts them off from the mainland, their peaceful retreat begins to unravel.
They discover that the cottage itself was built from the hull of a wrecked ship – a vessel deliberately lured onto the rocks more than 150 years ago by wreckers who murdered its crew and stole its cargo.
But the events of that terrible day have left more than wreckage behind.
The peninsula is haunted by the ghost of a child who drowned that day. For more than a century and a half, she has been waiting for her revenge.
Now, finally, the time has come.
Atmospheric, unsettling and steeped in dark maritime folklore, The Wreckers promises an evening of supernatural storytelling in the historic Great Hall of Burton Constable – the perfect way to begin your Halloween celebrations.
