Have you ever wondered what happens when Burton Constable's doors close for Winter? Join us on this exclusive guided tour and discover how we look after this special place.

From portraits to passementerie, curiosities to chandeliers there is plenty that needs cleaning at Burton Constable. Discover how gilded surfaces are brushed, books dusted and even get a sneaky peak at the conservation store and the items not currently on display.

Burton Constable has been the home of the Constable family for over 700 years and Winter is the perfect opportunity to closely examine the collections for signs of wear, pest activity and to update records, keeping the collections safe for future generations.

This exclusive tour includes a delicious freshly prepared afternoon tea served in the Rose Room at Burton Constable Hall.

Priced at only £30.00 per person, places are limited and must be pre-booked. 

Further dates are available: Monday 4th February, Wednesday 27th February, Thursday 7th March, Friday 15th March and Sunday 31st March.

Afternoon tea was created by the Duchess of Bedford in the late 18th century. She invited friends to join her for an afternoon meal of small cakes, bread and butter sandwiches, sweets and, of course, tea. The practice was so popular that it was quickly adopted by other social hostesses
