My new exhibition ‘Reflect’ explores all aspects of that word, be it in a literal sense, e.g. inspired by Reflections in Glass, Water and other reflective surfaces, or in a more meditative sense e.g. inspired music, dreams, origins and meanings of life. Shape, colour and pattern are used as building blocks to construct a meditative story
While I work principally with acrylics on stretched canvas, the use of other media such as fine pens, structure gels and modelling pastes during the construction of the work allows me to use textures and patterns to add to the stories I create.
I’ve exhibited in a large number of venues including Burton Agnes Hall, Bridlington Spa Gallery and Ferens Art Gallery Hull, both by myself and also at times with fellow artist Diane Rotherforth using the partnership name Double Vision.
With a BA Fine Art Degree, PGCE and BA Post Graduate Degree in Art and Humanities, I love learning! I also enjoy teaching, having retired from my post as Art Curriculum Development Officer with East Riding Adult Education Service 10 years ago, and am a qualified Art Tutor teaching classes both for my community in Hessle and also for Hessle U3A.
I’m an active member of Society for All Artists (SAA), East Riding Artists (ERA) and Hull Street Artists.
I hope you will enjoy this exhibition of my paintings.
